Respect in Sport Parent Program: The OMHA mandates that one parent/guardian of every player needs to complete the Respect in Sport Parent Program. Due to OMHA regulations, players will not be allowed on the ice for evaluations, practices or games until this course has been completed. There is a separate charge for this course, paid to the Respect Group, who manages the on line program.
Calling all Volunteers
The Acton House League Hockey Association (AHHA) relies heavily on volunteers to help our program run.
How can you help?
Our Executive / Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who have children playing with the AHHA. If you are interested helping, please contact Rick Smith at [email protected] more information.
Bench staff: Parents/Guardians can help out in various ways with our teams. We are always on the lookout for coaches, trainers and helpers. We need to comply with regulations as set out by the OMHA (Ontario Minor Hockey Association), so bench staff require the following:
All bench staff AND on ice volunteers must complete the Respect in Sport Activity Leader course.
All bench staff AND on ice volunteers require a current (within two years from date of issue) police check that includes a Vulnerable Sector Screen.
Each team requires a coach. The coach must have specific coach qualifications as set out by the OMHA, along with the Respect course and police check
Each team requires a trainer. The Trainer Curse can be found on the OMHA website. The course is designed to educate people in the prevention, recognition and management of hockey-related injuries and is the only sport-specific risk management, injury management and safety education program in Ontario.
