Halton Hills remains in Stage 3, follows Regional MOH guidance

Thank you for your patience and dedication to our organization during this confusing and ever changing COVID season. The Friday November 13 announcement from the Province that assigned Halton Region to the Red Zone has resulted in numerous questions and enquiries from all families on how the ice season can proceed. With the assistance of Town staff we are trying to interpret these guidelines and have reached out to the Regional Health authorities for clarification on some items. To answer some very specific questions from groups that have arisen:

The new guidelines have limited all sports and recreation programs to 10 people. We have been advised that this number replaces the previous 50 allowed in the facility and can not be separated into, say 10 in a dressing room, 10 on the ice and 10 in the stands. However, there is an exception for a parent/guardian to accompany a skater. This is under review and until any further clarification is provided by the Province or the Medical Officer of Health, Halton Hills will follow the player plus 1 parent/guardian.

In light of the reduced ice occupancy, we have requested an hourly ice rate reduction to offset the reduced number of registered skaters now able to use the ice at a given time. As Halton Hills Council makes decision on rates staff will bring forward this request for review, this will be tentatively scheduled for the next Council meeting which is November 23. If at that Council meeting a decision is made to reduce the rental rate we will reach out to our Conveners and offer ice to our individual teams.

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and understanding.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns we will try our best to answer then.
